Weekly Forecast August 19 – 25, 2018

Was it just me or did Mercury Retrograde give us one last slap in the head before it disappeared? I’m telling you – last week was a bit of a doozy for me… especially the last few days. It had me feeling really frazzled and unable to make sense of it. It was like I needed to do something but I couldn’t figure out what it was and all the worked up energy was eating at me! I’m happy to say, though, that today has already been a lot better!

So, with all that out of the way we can move on to this week! And, to make sure we’re in sync with our forecast, let’s remember where we’re coming from. Last week, we had the 10 of wands reversed, showing that we were feeling a bit overwhelmed by our decision, The Hanged Man, which showed we were hanging on to it for a bit, stuck in our decision-making and needing a new perspective, and then the Page of Cups that showed us the new perspective was coming, we just needed to be creative and look for it in less-obvious places.

This week, I think we are still wrapping up whatever choice we had to make a couple weeks back. It could even be something entirely different. Once you read through, you’ll be able to use your better judgement and intuition to feel out how this plays into your specific week. Our cards this week are The Hierophant reversed, the Queen of Cups reversed, and the King of Wands. To me, they seem to reflect our issues surrounding that initial choice coming to a close.

The Hierophant reversed is telling us that we are still feeling a bit restricted this week. And like last week, it’s shown by a Major Arcana card, so I have a feeling that this restriction is going to be a hard one to back away from. Whereas last week’s restriction was due to an inability to change, this week, it derives more from rebelliousness or even a pressure to do something you really don’t want to do. It can also be a result of bad advice or leadership.

The Hierophant reversed can also come up to mean that you may not feel you are doing what you know you should be doing. Whether it’s the right thing, a different thing, or anything else. Maybe you made the wrong choice or else you’re questioning yourself heavily. And in doing so, you’re cutting yourself off from moving forward. So now this week, you’re stuck in that rut.

Your challenge comes from the reversed Queen of Cups, who is not so structured with her emotions. This week, you may be having a hard time expressing yourself or reasoning between the pros and cons of your situation. You may also get lost in the “what ifs” and lose a bit of common sense when it comes to what you really need. Maybe you are in a mood this week because you can’t do what you want or need to do. It makes sense.

I think it is safe to say that our challenge may be to think rationally about our situation. Don’t let your emotions cloud your view of what is important. Talk it out with people you trust, write about it in your journal, meditate on it. In order to move ahead and away from whatever drama that is trying to hold you back, you may need to start breaking your emotional bonds to the root cause of it.

The King of Wands should be motivation enough to leave that old baggage behind. With him comes even more creativity and new opportunities to succeed. I like these little creative reminders we keep getting! This card shows us that if we can move through our situation with a clear head, we’ll be more open and available for something that is sure to benefit us.

The new opportunity may come from out of the blue, but more often than not, the King of Wands denotes self-made success. And with it is the creativity it takes to get it going. This isn’t necessarily a material thing. Wands represent wants and desires, sp this could literally be anything!

Here’s a good example of the week: You’re restricted by your budget. Maybe you spent too much this weekend – you knew you should have stayed home and ignored your friends! Your challenge is to stop letting your emotions dictate your actions and spending habits. Once you can, you’ll be able to save up and buy/do what you’ve been wanting to do sometime this week!”

Of course this could vary. But I feel like this is likely to be a real possibility with most of us!

So, can you see this playing out in your week ahead? Do you think its a continuation from the last couple of weeks? Or, are you seeing this apply to something new? I’d love to read your take on it!
